This was my first published micro! Somehow, it earned ‘Highly Commended’ in the Welkin Mini Writing Prize 2025, a contest for microfics run by the inimitable Matt Kendrick. Read for free at the Welkin Writing Prize.

(Thanks to Matt Kendrick for hosting the competition, and editing the piece.)
